RFID Hardware Solutions

RFID stands for Radio Frequency IDentification, a technology that use radio waves to automatically identify people or objects.

A basic RFID system consists of three components:

  • An antenna or coil
  • A transceiver (with decoder)
  • A transponder (RF tag) electronically programmed with unique information
 
How does RFID work?
  • An unique serial number that identifies a person or object
  • A serial number is stored on a microchip that is attached to an antenna
  • The antenna enables the chip to transmit the identification information to a reader
  • The reader converts the radio waves reflected back to identify tag id
  • Reader communicates with host PC
